Two lecturers from the Department of Accounting presented papers at the European Accounting Association Annual Conference in Paris during May 2013. Ms Cecile Janse van Rensburg presented a paper entitled “Students’ reading comprehension of the IASB Conceptual Framework”, while Ms Lizette Kotze’s paper was entitled “Communication apprehension of accounting students: A cross-cultural study”. Cecile was also a guest lecturer at the Furtwongen University in Germany for a week in May. Prof Stephen Coetzee and Ms Astrid Schmulian published an article entitled “The effect of IFRS adoption on financial reporting pedagogy in South Africa” in Issues in Accounting Education, Vol. 28, No. 2, pp. 243-251.
